Morning at Kido Pond. The clouds, reflected on the surface of the water, rush past- but the pond itself is serene. This is the kind of quiet moment I enjoy taking time to savour- but these well-shaped clouds disappeared in about 10 minutes!

Born in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture in 1959. He was a member of the photo magazine ”Landscape Photography” when first published. Currently contributes to photography magazines, judges contests, teaches photography classes lectures, and leads photography club meetings. Author of many books, his latest is ”Landscape Photography: A Complete Guide” (Genkosha). He has also published a photo book, ”Color X Season” (Keiki Shashin Shuppan). His photo exhibitions include ”Color X Emotion” in 2015, ”Color X Season” in 2019, and ”Shiga Kogen -Whisper of the Scenery-” in 2020.
He is the vice president of the Japan Society of Landscape Photographers (JSPA), an instructor member of the Japan Landscape Photography Association, and an instructor member of the Japan Student Photography Club.
He is also Vice President of the Japan Society of Landscape Photographers (JSPA), a guiding member of both the Japan Landscape Photography Association (JNP) and the Federation of Student Photography Clubs of Japan (FUPC).
He is also a lecturer at the OM Digital Solutions Olympus College and the Fujifilm Academy X.
It has been three years since I started my work with the Shiga Highlands as the main base. Although there are still some locations I’ve yet to see, I visit other places frequently. I am at the stage where I am beginning to understand better how to get around this unique area.
This time, I took the OM-1 to the Shiga Highlands in autumn and early winter. I was able to capture the colours of this biosphere accurately. Thanks to OM SYSTEM, I also captured the feel of the cold air and expressed the changing of the seasons. I am convinced this system will be a powerful new travel companion in these mountains.
