I walk on in the field, in the mountains, near the sea. It is the time as seasons change. Some birds are departing, while others have just arrived in Japan for the winter. As I strolled on, absorbed in the moment, I felt happiness in meeting each one of them.

As fascinated by the world of wild birds, I want to cherish the feeling of enjoying such encounters and observations in the field. Shooting then is the next step, and that is why I always want a camera that allows me to shoot more lightly, freely, and nimbly.

The OM-D’s powerful image stabilisation and dust and splash-roof construction have been a great help to me in the past. I feel a strong sense of trust and attachment to my equipment- gear I have travelled with, traversed rugged roads with, and exposed to the rain. This feeling has grown deeper since I have acquired the long-awaited M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO lens.

On this trip, I took along the new OM-1, the OM SYSTEM flagship camera.

The OM-1 is a camera that matches my desires. With its significantly improved image quality, I can record the beauty of my beloved wild birds in even higher excellence. What I feel has evolved the most is the AF performance. In particular, in the way it can accurately detect and focus on a bird’s body or, if close enough, its eyes. With the OM-1, a photographer can abandon cumbersome settings, track the bird’s movement and compose the shot.

A good camera encourages a photographer to go out and shoot and supports what they want to convey. I can’t wait for my next trip with the OM-1 in hand.
