I have always been drawn to the outdoors since I was little, so when my interest in photography first started it was expected that I would tend towards anything with a focus on nature. Wildlife photography is unpredictable and can be very challenging and frustrating, but when things go right it’s highly rewarding. You can go many weeks with limited to no success, but somehow it always keeps me coming back for more in the promise of a unique image or experience.

By spending extended periods of time with specific animals or species, I’m privileged enough to witness behaviours and interactions that are rarely seen by most people. When capturing images of these incredible creatures, I hope to inspire and excite people who may otherwise have no interest in the natural world, showing how important it is that we conserve wildlife and the habitats they live in. We can all have a positive impact, no matter how small.

Because of how challenging wildlife photography can be, it’s imperative that I have complete confidence in my equipment. It needs to have fast and reliable autofocus, and produce crisp, sharp images. To miss a once in a lifetime shot because of equipment failure is every photographers worst nightmare. Olympus gives me the confidence to know that I have everything I need and the rest is down to me. I was thrilled when I heard that a M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter MC-20 was in development, but also anxious. I didn’t want image quality or autofocus performance to suffer when using it. With over a month of extensive use I’ve realised that these concerns were premature. The optical quality with the MC-20 is incredible and beyond what I could have ever expected or anticipated, allowing me to get closer than ever before to wildlife without risking disturbance to the subject.
