Render waterfalls with silky-smooth motion
By capturing the passage of time in a single image, moving water in waterfalls and rivers can be rendered like strands of white silk, creating a dreamlike view that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Live ND composites multiple images to simulate a longer exposure time, producing slow-shutter effects of up to 7 stops* (ND128).
The effect can be previewed in real time in the EVF or on the rear monitor.
Because the final image is created from multiple frames captured at relatively fast shutter speeds, Live ND can produce clear slow-shutter images with reduced noise, cleaner shadows and smoother tonal gradation.
* The available ND steps vary by camera model.

It can also be used to blur people moving through a city, conveying urban energy and the passage of time.
There is no need to change filters for different scenes or lenses, and you can adjust the composition and settings while previewing the effect.
Use the city around you as inspiration.

By producing an effect similar to a long exposure, Live ND can transform rippled water into a calm, seamless surface.

Live ND lets you use long shutter speeds even in bright conditions. Deliberately introducing motion blur opens the door to expressive, artistic results.
